2007 NZERN National Conference

9am, Sunday, 18 November 2007, Christchurch

Theme
A one day conference has been called to enable NZERN members to get together to discuss where NZERN is headed. It is open to all NZERN members. This conference will celebrate NZERN's 10th birthday and the completion of PIPI4. There will be plenty of cake.

Programme
Priorities for discussion will be finalised on the day by participants but will include:

  • Demonstrations of how easy it is to logon to the website, update personal details, change passwords and use the forums.
  • A review of the suggestions made at the 2007 Restoring the Drylands Conference and the planned 2008 Conference on Rural Restoration. Establishing a conference organising committee.
  • Organising Field Days using the $10,000 funding received.
  • Regional Editors, editorial standards and information cataloging.
  • Improvements to Kereru, using the Events Manager to update the calendar.
  • Improvements to PlanterGuide.
  • Membership recruitment, branches, the Help Desk and financing NZERN.
  • NZERN's constitution and Long Term Plan and elected leadership. Where are we heading? Are we still on the right track? How can we get there? How can we pay for it? How can we adapt in a changing information environment? Are we meeting users needs? Are we functioning as an effective national society? Are we all familiar enough with the business of the organisation - if not, how can we be? Role of the Advisory Panel. Strengthening membership democracy ansd accountability.
