Description
NZERN
has an unpaid internship always available for a computer science
student. Would suit a skilled post graduate who want real world
experience problem solving. First come - first served. Work involves
customising a national GIS system with Flash to provide mapping
support to thousands of community lead ecological restoration
projects in NZ. NZERN uses project based extreme programming.
This is office work using a computer.

The facility includes workstations and a 3x48U rack server system.
There is an extensive software library to find answers to those problems you will encounter.
Skills
Experience
with Flash, ColdFusion and ArcIMS in Windows and Linux environments
is a requirement. Ability to document all work to a high standard
is a requirement. Experience with Java, Python, XML, XLSD transformations
would be an adavantage. As would confidence with J2EE, Eclipse
and data warehousing strategies. You need to be keen to learn
new skills, be a good worker, thrive on rapid change and like
working as part of a happy team of very experienced volunteers.
There will be opportunities to give presentations at the occasional
seminar.

The office is fully equipped, tea and coffee is supplied
